1. Do a cost analysis for the follow appliances. You need to answer what the current cost/energy consumption is for the appliance you have (one assigned in the lab). Then find an Energy Star version of the appliance and compare the cost of operating and the cost of purchase.  After you have calculated these costs determine how long it will take you to pay off the purchase

Compare the energy costs of cooling your home with room ac units, central air, vs. geothermal.  If you are going to cool your home for the next 20 years this way (assuming fixed cost per kwh for electricity) which is the most economical?
